The USA Initiative brings together researchers to collaborate on subjects in American Studies and update our understanding of the field in the current climate. We work together to re-investigate the meaning of selected cultural, literary, political and narrative products of the United States of America.

Among the activities organized by The USA Initiative is a series of workshops and reading groups for interested academics and for students. We select a variety of themes, problems, and material which inspire discussion; develop ideas for future research; and answer relevant questions about US culture.

PAST AND FUTURE EVENTS

October 4, 2025: We invite colleagues to join our Reading Group to discuss One Battle After Another - directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and inspired by Thomas Pynchon's Vineland (1990) - and exchange first impressions, analysis or other ideas in an informal seminar setting at the Øst for Paradis Café.
